Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Toxic culture is norm in GF

With all a-s kickers and boot kickers sitting at director and VP roles, it is such a toxic environment in GF Malta. No employee really cares now about work.

@OP

So what your saying is senior leadership kicks a-s? That's a change of heart, you've spent months trying to turn the world against them on these boards.

I agree that the toxicity starts from the very top and trickles down. But our managers and their managers are so far removed from the top that they deserve to bare more brunt of the blame. They could promote the deserving candidate or be more transparent of what is really going instead of hiding behind the many false Globalfoundries created propaganda and programs. But most if not all don’t. They promote their favorites and leave the others behind. How many times have we seen someone get a promotion who didn’t deserve it over an obvious coworker who should have gotten it? It’s all bullsh-t and they deserve to held responsible for enabling and creating the most toxic work environment in the semiconductor industry. They fostered the reputation we now hold across the industry. It’s not TC in our group or department meeting it’s the manager a--clowns with their own personal hidden agendas and exploiting a clearly shady and rigged work environment.

The problem starts at the CEO level, he values financials over employees which the latest data proves. Time to clean house and run the company strategically without intervention from Mubadala to prioritize short-term financials over longer term strategic success.

I was laid off from a team that was already short staffed. This week I learned more people from that same team have quit. I feel bad for the people still there as they no doubt have the same amount of work with less people. At some point most people either get laid off when they reach top salary/experience or they decide to better their career and leave before investing too many years into GF. It’s not the regular workers of Global driving the place down, it’s management and culture. Everyone on my team worked hard and ran our azzes off to keep those tools running. They were good people who actually cared and trusted the BS that SLT fed them. We struggled with lack of resources and lack of effective management. I invested over 7 years and reached top of my pay scale for my level. It was stressful and frustrating most of the time. My last 2 years I dealt with sh1tty raises, lackluster bonuses while GF had record productivity and profits. For what? To be tossed aside so TC and DR could sell more options. Am I bitter? No, I am disappointed in myself for staying there too long. lesson learned. My only hope for my friends and former coworkers is for things to turn around and get better at GF or for them to find better opportunities elsewhere. I saw in other threads people getting insulted because they got laid off and getting bashed because they got a nice severance. I can assure you, the severance money and bonuses we got doesn’t make up for the years we invested. Good luck to all of you.

Toxic environment starts from the very top and ripples down the organization. The toxic and hostile behavior has become part of fabric of GF. Only with a new CEO in place, we can look forward to dismissal of the senior leadership team followed by their cronies and their replacement with true professionals to start repairing this huge damage to employee moral and company reputation

Just happy not to have to deal with it anymore. My old team sucked. My team lead sucked. My manager sucked. I think global just sucked.

I think the toxic environment really starts at our manager level. They have the ability to stop it or at least mitigate it. But they don’t in fact the often accelerate rate with their own selfish and exploitative actions.
