Advertising a Belk Outlet as “grand opening” is misleading. In reality the sales at these locations were down exponentially and Sycamore is buying time until the lease runs out. This is the time of the year that most businesses lay off/close underperforming stores, so isn’t it coincidental that Belk is transitioning mostly rural area/low volume stores into outlets?

So true. All of belk is a joke. My store is the perfect storm of a hellhole. The manager doesn't care. The HR person thinks she knows everything all the while showing her lack of empathy for anybody and most associates rally behind their friends even though they are not doing their jobs. Everybody does whatever they please and the management says nothing because they can't find anyone to work there. And from the top Sycamore is one of the sleaziest companies around and the top management cares only about the money. But Sycamore is going to drag it out until they have sucked every dollar out of it. Belk outlet is just another tool for them to get more money.
It does make sense about this time of year but also I think dumping off the extra inventory from the very few higher end stores is sorta ripping off Dillards clearance centers which Belk should have called their outlet stores. but we all know how they are completely out of touch on running a business
