I don't know many people who would be too disappointed if they were to be laid off with severance. Most of us are done with 3M and want to leave. Most of us wouldn't mind being paid for it. I can't see the downside to it. They have abused us long enough that layoffs have become a preferable option to staying.

it is true, getting laid off is not a bad idea at the minute, it would certainly give me another shot at a better job, it is just the waiting to see who they are letting go, please let people know you are shutting up shop,

Totally agree with OP. I have 25 years here and certainly won’t mind to leave with a severance package.
