Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Why don't leaders get it?

Imagine this: Profit is an outcome of doing business the right way. How many executive leaders still here have forgotten the word "fair" in Tenant 4? Gaining profit and market share should not be the main goal. It is an outcome.

As a publicly traded global company in a capitalist society, I know it's a bold take. Employee engagement and retention actually do matter, leading to sustained growth. Crazy, right?

As former CEO Bill George said, "Get out of your office and spend more time on the front lines." Is it that surprising he easily grew the company's market capitalization 55x during his tenure?

Heh. Nnamdi just got the boot from Zimmer after 18months. I guess they are more serious about weeding out poor leaders than Medtronic with the “flunky of Geoff” rule in place!

Wow how long has Nnamdi been around? I'm reading everywhere how bad he was.

Unless of course it's a podcast about black C levels who can't hear enough of their own voices. Then Nnamdi is good at that.

It’s so simple. Go Woke, Go Broke

Medtronic and its buffoon leaders are so focused on DEI that they can’t hit expectations anymore. They miss numbers and then talk about their DEI goals. We have lost too many talented leaders in order to further Geoff, Brett and Sally’s ridiculous DEI goals.

They get paid highly, the rest get nothing and 8-10k will lose their jobs in April

Sad state of affairs for a once great company. Geoff has ruined MDT

Right, but the execs are beholden to shareholders first, so they're constantly developing the next shiny object to woo shareholders with, that will increase the stock price and consequently increase their stock option payouts. That mentality goes all the way down to PMO, who is constantly pushing for teams to do the same amount of work in less time and with fewer resources, without making any of the systems or policies (at an OU level) any more streamlined than they were 5 or 10 years ago.

Let's be honest. Was Nnamdi hired because of his appearance or his ability?

Feels like to many of the presidents are there to punch a clock at big MDT for a few years, get some experience "running" a buisness and then jump to a bigger role at a smaller company. Havent like half the original OU presidents left? Nnamdi is just the latest example of an unqualified friend of Geoff cashing in and moving on, with a trail of failed buisnesses behind him.

All the leaders are there biding their time before they can jump ship to something cushy. No one gives a sh-t about long term performance anymore. Look at that a--hole Nnamdi who destroyed multiple businesses while travelling the world sucking off Geoff, and now found himself a new gig and is leaving behind total destruction in his wake.

Zero accountability at the exec level - they can do as they wish and demolish entire businesses and are then rewarded with a clean slate new role or better yet, abandon their sh---y legacy and leave the cleaning up to the individual contributors.

Does anyone actually feel confident in them? I don't. It's just a shell game... If things don't pan out we will just reorg!
