Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Layoffs at Medtronic and Medtronic Care Management Services have begun

Layoffs at Medtronic and Medtronic Care Management Services have begun. They are trying to reduce staff by 8000 worldwide. Both Medtronic and Medtronic Care Management Services are now fully integrated with a off shore consulting company called TATA and no longer are using us resources for development. They have off shored most of the development, project lead work, but still keeping some in US as contractors for managers. They hire the contractors for 18 months then give them 60 days off and rehire them for 18 months again. MDT was a good company but now I would say that has past.

TATA is defiantly integrated into MDT now. Biggest Issue with outsource teams is they are not very good at hands on tasks, Sure they make good PMO's QE documenters, programmers an such. I see them taking over the big new cloud application projects. plant operations they will stay away from those tasks. a great example is the major outages using SAP for production what a mess.
Boots on the ground folks will always be around as there needed to support this new direction.

IT has been getting outsourced and cut piece by piece since 2020, so that isn't new.

We were told layoffs have begun, but our fate won't be known until end of April.
