Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Email saying our sales were bad

I cannot believe the email we received about sales from our gm. He was concerned that too many stores are far below the company average of sales. Wtf?? Blame yourselves, not the associates in the store dealing with pi---d off customers every minute if every day. No product to sell. Do we suggest a different item? Sure we do. Oh wait, I don’t have that either. Let’s move onto plan c… nope, out of that also.
Sales dropped immediately as soon as whoever mentioned bankruptcy 3 weeks ago. Blame lies on you, not us.
We’re working with absolutely nothing and making the best of it.
Absolutely no frieght since Jan 11. Almost 6 weeks with NOTHING TO SELL!!

Fully agree with sau. All the good people have left. Ones trained before MT.

GM - "I know we have nothing to sell but sales has been bad so sell more of it".

They are still trying to push this cheerleading "Ra ra!" bull as if the company is not going to be gone soon. Just check out LinkedIn and look at posts for BBB and pictures of store teams celebrating teamwork. Yeah pay no mind to the company being a dead man walking and all the closures and mass layoffs. People in those pics will have no store and be jobless in a few months. But yeah, for now just smile and say hey look how amazing our store is...come shop! Very cringe.

“Go Beyond!” -says the corporate shill. But then again, you’re probably getting a healthy kickback for being a puppet.

I have been gone for almost a year and still panic after a put a cart where it should go thinking I just hurt my conversion rate. All the good leaders are long gone and the top retailers know the bottom dwellers are all that is left. You have DM’s now running the show that should have never been and would not have been in that position unless there were no other options. So many better opportunities out there to grow and leaders you can learn from.

It's not responsible retail. It's Bloodbath.

This is how they think. It cannot be C suites fault.

The thing is for BBB to get any of the 800 mill they need to continue they have to hit certain benchmarks….that they never will. So all they can do is pressure the stores to make sales, control payroll and not spend any money. I am glad I am in liquidation. Not sure if I could take anymore BS about doing more with no product and no associates to help customers. Looking forward to working with a real company not a floundering one.
