HyVee is a grocery store why are they trying to sell power washers. They have truly lost their minds. Who was the di----t that thought this was a good idea. Let me guess it was some GM Vice President. Somebody needs to check the GM management team on buying d-mb items to push at store level. We are a grocery store not a Lowe’s. Jeremy Gosch please talk to the gm Vice President team and let them know we are not Lowe’s. Better yet don’t. Just keep having back quarters until you get fired Jeremy.

Old HyVee guy makes some great point. That’s the problem with HyVee. They try something and if it fails they will try it bigger and better next time and again and again. They don’t learn from their mistake. They will keep throwing good money at bad ideas. The GM corporate team knows they are buying junk and forcing those items on stores. Then they blame store for not be able to sale 800 dollar grills and power washers. The gm corporate team is just trying to save their a-s and blame the stores. GM team needs to be replaced.

You are insane if you expect a 30-40% discount. A stores blended gross is usually substantially less than 30. No way they lose money on the front side of every employee order.
I heard in March they are coming back with a new and improved employee discount. The word I got is they are looking to do 30 to 40 % discount on anything without booze and cigs or lotto. I can’t wait to see this new program.
Is it true that the discount will return in April? That's what we heard.
I sure hope the manager that purchased these is running a profitable store. If not, here might be an issue.
The problem with the power washer is no one is like hey I need a power washer I better get to HyVee and check them out. I’m sure they did get them at a good price but nobody is looking at HyVee for a power washer. He-l maybe it will be an impulse buy but who goes to grocery shopping and is like hey I need a power wash for 300 dollars. These things will be just like the Traeger grills. Marked way down and sold at a lost. Hey GM leadership stop push junk onto the store and blaming them for not being able to sell over priced junk. If the gm corporate had their way they would get get of groceries and just sale junk GM merchandise. The stores are looking more like Kmart corporate buyers and supervisors have merchandised the stores these day. Didn’t work for them so stop trying to make the stores into Kmarts.
Actually the power washers are at select stores due a connection a store manager had with a distributor. They bought a truck load at a good price and are selling them below anything you can find at Amazon or on the internet. Pretty sure this story is accurate. I bought one. Employees could actually get one before the discount went away. I will miss the discount. It saved me a bundle over the year. I hope Hy-Vee will be able to bring it back.
Lost a good amount of talented people at the store level in the GM area also in the last 2 years.
Lol GM is a dumpster fire. We lost the ownership and smart merchandising when corporate took the autonomy away and started force shipping bad buys to the stores. How many stores have trailers out back with dead GM inventory in it? Thought the goal was to sell at a profit…bad inventory that gets blown out tanks the gross and is a total waste of labor.
