Ford contacts 100 Lightning customers for battery glitch that may disrupt driving

Ford Motor Company confirmed Friday that some electric F-150 Lightning pickup trucks currently in the hands of customers may have a battery complication that can prevent the pickup truck from shifting into drive or cause it to gradually lose power while driving.

"We monitor vehicle data to help ensure our vehicles are performing as expected in the field. We have identified that (in) some vehicles, their high-voltage battery is not performing as intended, which could result in a performance degradation," Martin Gunsberg told the Detroit Free Press.

The automaker is aware of an estimated 100 vehicles potentially affected but Ford cannot definitively say how many more may have a faulty battery because these issues are detected through vehicle data monitoring, Gunsberg said.

From Phoebe at the Free Ford Press, even she couldn’t bury this.

Phoebe writes some pretty scathing stuff. She was the one with the battery fire and she exposed the Focus transmission issue.

If you want to see someone who eats out of Ford PR hands, it's Mike Martinez at automotive news. That guy can write his own stuff.

Another fabulous product from model e. They have mach-e and lightning which do not make a profit but suck ford dry. Also most model e are former ford blue who cannot be retrained.

A “PreCall”

Why can’t we just build them right?

How disappointing for our customers (who won’t be for long.)

Actually yes, big brother is watching and we sign off giving big brother permission. Most OEMs do watch vehicle data. So much so, we (other OEMs) were given training on how to deal with potential search warrants from law enforcement. The customer signs off on this stuff like it is nothing. Same thing with cell phones. BTW, the other OEMs are way ahead of Ford in data collection. Be Careful driving , your car could tattletale on you! LOL.

Very proactive of Ford to issue this notice.

This is not a recall, to those who feed on hit pieces against Ford and only negative publicity.

“We monitor vehicle data”…….

In real time? Is there a privacy notice? Big brother is watching

A “battery complication” means we pay for a warranty recall on vehicles that were not profitable when we sold them.

WHEN WILL FARLEY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE?
