Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Voluntary package in April?

I am hearing in April a VRIF - voluntary reduction in force. If you are over 55 with 10 or more years of service will be eligible. Standard separation package but health care until 12/31/23. Any truth to this rumor?

Why do the people you wish would leave stay?

Attrition is running high enough that incentives are not needed. I’m not sure a large IRIF is even needed. Just not backfilling gets 5%-10% per year now.

The timing would be perfect for me as I was planning on retiring in April.... I chickened out on the 2017 one, and with the disasters that followed, I regret that very much.

I believe we are in the attrition phase.(no money left for severance packages)
As another poster commented" It costs them nothing"

The last good VRIF I recall, a co-worker raised their hand to take it. They still had pretty good packages. I want to say it was 2018 - it was right before they drastically changed the severance packages. Anyway, he wasn't told whether or not he got it. Months went by and suddenly he was approved and out the door. My worry would be that you wouldn't find out until September or October and then be out of health coverage at the end of the year. Only take something like that if you were planning to leave anyway. But I can't imagine they even have enough people for VRIFs - particularly when they shockingly haven't had an IRIF yet this year. Who else is there to cut that they haven't outsourced/offshored or cut already?

I have no information one way or another, but I doubt that will be offered.

The last time I saw a vrif was in 2017. At this point they are relying on attrition which costs them nothing.

Better and more humane way to cut staff - wish that would be an option at XBS and Xerox - also good way to get rid of those higher paid (read: older) employees. I think in the 'old days' that is how Xerox would trim staffing with voluntary options and 'friendly' offers first. They should offer programs like that in the future.
