Has anyone applied and had luck with any optum jobs? Since we are supposed to be selected first. Not like I want to work for them since they have caused all of this uproar but if I need to I will for the time being.

I had an interview with a UHG recruiter a couple of months ago and he didn't even know about the merger. If that tells you anything. I didn't get the job, BTW. No internal candidate preference.
Optum is in a hiring freeze until further notice.
I guess it all depends on whether Optum has a position available that aligns with your current career. It's probably hit or miss. They're probably required by law to consider laid off workers for open positions.
