This is not my first job, I worked at several companies that also had layoffs, however, I am very unpleasantly surprised by the lack of transparency here. I am reading about the experiences of people who were laid off but were not given details of severance pay and I am appalled.
Why so much non-transparency?
I'm also appalled at the practice of doing 'group' firings, where multiple employees were let go on the same zoom call. It's not even the case that they were a large number of people, so it's not "oh no, we can't schedule enough slots". As the OP said, the packages weren't available on notification day. I've heard of it being days between the time the employee was notified and the time they actually got the details of the severance.
