SVPs tell their directors to cut 10%
The directors meet with their subordinates and look at those who report to them.
Do we like them?
Do they make too much?
Are they over 50?
Then they cut those meeting this criteria.

Im well we’ll over 50; and I actually produce something tangible with my hands; I’m still employed with netapp. I like my job, and I don’t take it for granted ever.
It’s mostly if they are part of the club or not as to who stays or goes.
In Wichita, we take care of our own....for the most part. We keep or promote friends so that the jobs don't go to other cities.
Sad to say it is about who you know, who likes you and who you hang out with after work.
It feels more like someone is holding a layoff g-n while blindfolded and they start shooting at everyone until there are no more rounds in the magazine.
