Dissatisfied with work here

Unfortunately, people are starting to look for new opportunities only now when they think they might become jobless, while in fact we all should have looked for a new job when we stopped being satisfied with this one. There are many long time sufferers in this company. Since when, how long have you not been satisfied with your job here?

Since MDT bought us we have spent close to 40% of our time on Non value added Goals and Work has become so difficult that you don't want to touch anything. We have been reorged 4 times since 2019 and have only launched products that were developed before MDT. Getting ready to be reorged again and work just becomes harder.

Since 2021. I was thankful for the flexibility when Covid started, but it’s gone downhill since. I’ve taken on bigger projects and worked my bu-t off, but budgets and a manager who won’t go to bat for any of us have only led to more work and less pay. Despite a promotion my salary is worth less today than in 2018 because of the paltry 2% raises. We haven’t backfilled multiple positions in years, so those on my team are all doing the jobs of multiple people.

And it’s what everyone else has said. Geoff and friends don’t care about the mission and have strayed from it. For a guy who focuses on making money first, he sure is lousy at it.

I’d like to find something new. With RTO I will likely have to as I don’t think I can afford childcare this summer.

It’s on par with working at WalMart. Only a few talented employees remain. Totally pathetic!

I started looking 6 months ago. The mission has changed. The company is now focused on making money and this had led to a downward spyral at multiple levels. The meetings repeat the same corporate approved sentences without materializing in concrete actions (be patient centric- Really? Now? Leveraging expertise- What about all these development plans filed these last years?). I got an offer for another job today. Will take it.

I have only been here a little over 1 year and I really enjoy my job. Everyone I’ve met has been gracious and hardworking. That’s a dynamic you don’t see in every workplace. I started looking for new jobs mainly because I’m scared I’ll be let go. But I hope I get to stay and see Medtronic return to better times.

I started looking during that last reorg about 12ish months ago when it finally crystalized for me that the mission is dead. Only reason I was here was because of that, and turned on my search harder around the start of this year knowing that my position was going to get eliminated (not leaked to me but based on my role and MDT vision they weren't aligned). Got the WARN on a Tuesday right after an interview for a role I was really excited about, and got the verbal offer on the Thursday 2 days later. Now I'm just coasting out my WARN period taking some time to myself and getting that severance package before starting that new job that I'm super stoked about.

Looking back though, really sad that MDT lost sight of it's mission since I drank the koolaid hard here and really drove a lot of folks to come work for the company that I hope are in a good place with all this turmoil.

Almost 10 years, I have enjoyed the company up until the last major reorganization (about 2 years ago). Things immediately and quickly started down hill.
