I just couldn't believe it when I found out what fantastic people, who have been loyal to this company for years, got a notice.
I am also no longer needed here and this will be a stressful period until I find a new opportunity, but I try to look at things from the positive side as well.
This has become a joke of a company and how much longer would you have stayed here if you didn't get notice? I probably wouldn't have stayed much longer anyway.

To the immediately previous post - Yup! Strong Move. I did the same.
re-deployed in Nov I immediately went on two pronged internal and external search.
External far stronger - even with FAANG et al layoffs - for senior systems types.
Already started new job AND getting severance.
I knew I wasn't going to last more than a couple more months so the layoff came at the perfect time. Instead of quitting and getting nothing, I get to move to a job I MUCH more prefer and take my severance package (vacation time!). I consider it a WIN! Praying for everyone to find their dream job and come out of this happier than before. I've loved some of my time at IBM and wish everyone staying best of luck.
This thread is as good as any other... Who is the d-ckw-d with the bot that down votes everything? What are you getting out of this? You have proven that you are clearly not sane. What else is it that you want us to know?
Look upward, my friend! I retired in last April, and now so happy and complacent - the environment has gotten so toxic in the last two or three decades, it is now embarrassing to represent IBM to our clients on a day-to-day basis "accepting personal responsibility". Too bad, the soul have left the body of the company. Aim high and shoot, and you will find your next successful endeavor!
