Attrition has been higher than usual for the past year or so according to executives, but they have been back-filling people that have left while not growing the overall head count over that time. Although I'm sure that some of the attrition might be due to fear and uncertainty surrounding the impending Broadcom deal, there is also the job hopping environment that was prevalent in 2022 to consider as people looked for better paying jobs elsewhere in part to keep up with high inflation. Funny enough, VMware appears to have clued in to the fact that their employees are trying to assess any drastic changes in overall headcount and so have stopped feeding up to FTEs info into Slack for the past month or so, and so the stats have stayed exactly the same for that time period, whereas previously, these would change even if just a trickle - up or down - just about every day.

As the business is not growing any new role is likely due to attrition and bit because we are so busy that we need more people.
