Thread regarding BD (Becton Dickinson & Co.) layoffs

April 2023 layoffs? Any chatter?

It's got to continue and there are definitely lots of management layers that could go. Sr leaders with 1 direct report or no direct reports! Too many layers for sure.

What do you guys mean the push for equity? Do you mean the push for more women in leadership because there are barely any leaders that are people of color. I know once of the Life Sciences presidents is a woman.
She has horrible leadership skills but she does tick the equity box twice.

Confirmed by numerous current employees under NDA, large layoffs coming very very soon. It's all for optics folks. A corporation also cannot promote people in the name of equity, without financial ramifications.

The corporate and interventional management was in Arizona last week. They spent 3 days in meetings with PI leadership and we didn't see a lot of them. PI didn't close the FY great and saw layoffs in Dec. If things haven't improve enough we might see more very soon.

I was laid off (last day was March 31, 2023) MMS San Deigo after 11 years. A few others in MMS San Diego were impacted I know of / worked with also. I suspect more to come end of June 2023.

You are correct but keep in mind, the recent rapid increase in promotions has been largely accelerated (directly or indirectly) through the push for equity. HR is even publishing the data. No idea how you pull back from that.
