Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Anybody else that got laid off today get a new manager in workday?

Curious if anybody else that got the axe today got assigned to a new manager from outside the US in workday in the past few days. Wondering if they did that for reporting reasons.

Non U.S. based employees should have a matrix manager/Bluepages in country manager since they are connected to in country HR partner and understand local employment laws I assume. Were you officially introduced to them? Maybe the separation package has to come from an in country person to make it legal - just thinking out loud.

Back in the day when I got hit by an RA, the day it happened my Callup (I'm showing my age...does IBM still use Callup?) data immediately changed to reflect a new manager. At that time you were immediately removed from your department and put into a holding cell of sorts...new department, new manager for 30 days until your formal exit. I wouldn't be surprised if they still do that...all questions that you had would be directed to the new manager and not the old one. That new manager was someone assigned by HR and legal, they didn't know your "old" manager, your "old" department business, your "old" projects, etc. Everything they said to you was scripted, pre-approved stuff, designed to not give you any way to delay your exit or make any legal moves. They really didn't want to talk to you, and they didn't want you to talk to them.

I was a remote employee, so my exit was clean. I don't know how it was handled for on-site employees, now or in the past.

No change in workday. Laid off about an hour ago after selling a 400m deal and having a robust pipeline in consulting. Have sold 2.5bn for IBM. Guess it doesn't matter
