Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Management should practice what they preach

So I wonder if management will take a page from their own book that every accident is preventable? Examine all the changes they made to see if they were the cause? Have a hearing with themselves? Put themselves on the street? Fire themselves? Make rules that never allow this to happen again? Write themselves up if they violate them? Of course not, I’m not stupid. But man if they believe all that fixes everything. They should practice what they preach.

Well said, @2ffp+1lHmQoZS.

We had a guy hired on as laborer , theybgave him zero , I mean zero training in engine movement/shifting , sent him right to the busiest moment area we have and against his advisement to the boss that he had zero training and nonclue what he was doing yet was ordered to move engines anyway , of course he went right over the derail because he doesn't know what a de rail is the management decided rather than admitting they screwd up by giving him no training whatsoever to blame the derailment on him and olave him on serious start program with days over his head , if this isn't bad enough , which it is his own union representative didn't open his mouth to say a single word in his defense , when asked if this was true to his union rep the rep stated that he has good days off and doesn't wanna rock the boat because they might take the union reps good days off away from him . There will be more east Palestine type incidents .

Management has already determined that they are at fault for all injuries and accidents. They will be doubling down on discipline and write ups in order to show just how seriously they take their responsibility.

Never underestimate the power of greedy shareholders who want to turn a quick profit out of a business that for over a hundred years is heavy on infrastructure and long on growth. Can’t approach it like a tech company. But hey , I guess they can do what they want…
