Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Let’s get a few things straight!

#1 those of us who are staying are staying because we’ve been with this company a lot of years. Thru the good and the bad. And we truly want to see the turn around happen and rejoice when it does! And cry if it doesn’t
#2 we’re like a family! We’ve spent more time with the other employees than our own family!
#3 we’ve put a lot of years here. I’ll he damned if I’ll quit now. I’ll take a 6 mo leave on unemployment dime before I’ll leave. and btw, I have more retail experience than most. I could find a job tomorrow as a Dm in any retail market. But I’ll never leave my team. It’s not how leaders work. We stay till the jobs complete. We get our hands dirty and we listen to the b.s till the end.
So those of you who question us… fu-k off already. Why do you care what we do?

If they truly were a “family” they wouldn’t have fired me for the most mundane asinine reason!! They’re backstabers!! All they care about is money and good PR like they are the captain on the Titanic!!

Might have stung at first and less money for now sucks…but it relieved SO much stress and frustration! They dug their own grave to lie in. I have no sympathy.

I joined BB&B during February 2022 and within 2 weeks I realized that BB&B was doomed. Only a matter of time before filing for bankruptcy. If someone has been working at BB&B for years and has yet to make the same determination, then I am unable to comprehend how a DM position is remotely possible.

A good leader would not think they are creating a positive impact by remaining with their team. A good leader would be providing an honest assessment of the company's dire situation and preparing their team as quickly as possible in order to prepare for outside opportunities. If you feel that you are making a positive impact by remaining with your team and providing no direction, you are sadly mistaken. I would guess there are several members of the team that you have directly or indirectly impacted and they are remaining with BB&B, because you have stated that you will stay with your team until the end. This type of thinking will only increase financial hardships upon your team when the store closes and it takes 3 to 4 weeks to receive the first unemployment check.

So, carry on with the stellar leadership.

What about the DM's that have already been let go that have a tremendous track record that still haven't been able to land a job, some of which that were let go in rounds 1 and 2? I posted early on factual rumors about the incoming layoff when I had connections in corporate. You severely stuck in time and have a complete narrative you trying to push about me. Oh, I've seen management get screwed over PLENTY of times. I've been there when they go postal at 10pm when their SM orders them to stay and do something. I've been there to see them come in for overnights.

And I have been there when they quit because they had families to tend to. Or perhaps they could see the direction this was headed as well. Now you are stuck in a no win situation where you have to act enthused. You would have to have been blind not to see this. And you really are blind when you fail to grok that many of the good people who did the grunt work on the floors and not worth a ton more than you are and you made money on their backs.

Thanks for the lesson on how retail screws people over. I obviously never knew that. /s. Actually, semi-retired and don't need or want much, and really spent 4 years PT at Bloodbath and was one of their best workers. But I never trusted the place enough to marry it. The signs were there very long ago. I never had any reason to trust the place.

All the good managers left long ago.

And are we now rating people on how much they made at retail, btw? Used to have an uncle who said he never judged a man by the size of his pocketbook. Is your arrogant a-s worth more than anyone else? We both know you are full of sh-t to put on this act. A-s li---r. I am merely saying most of our managers were not worth the money and the good ones left. Take it or leave it, or spend time cutting and pasting so you look cool.

You and you alone made a choice to stay while most left. What did you expect? $10k for staying on board till it was over? Most that are here that are choosing to stay know that there is no real severance package going forward. I hope you all understand that: THERE IS NO SEVERANCE PAY FOR ANYONE STAYING TILL THE BITTER END
