At our store it seems the last two years have been a secret best of belk. Is this the new norm in the company? Is it so management does not have to answer questions why one associate got it over someone else. Just wondering.

If you want to know how Belk has gone downhill… Just listen to the things the above people say.. At one of our weekly morning meetings, an associate in the men’s department was so excited to let everyone in the meeting know that she had a $2200 dollar sale the day before. The manager in charge of the meeting said to this person:——— that is fine but you have no app downloads and your email capture in under 50%. The associate almost cried.. if I didn’t need my job , I would have told that manager what I thought of him and walked out the door… I thought our goal was to sell merchandise and make money for the store. Not to get emails and app downloads.. I hate this place..
@1tdg. No. You are not the only one who thinks so. Every day is weird at belk. It is like a war zone. @1qzr. You are so right. But keep in mind they have never really appreciated us. In our store we heard nothing about best of belk, no luncheon for credit card certificates and certificates were left at our work station not even signed. No mention of any kind of raises. The only communication is about getting credits, apps, emails or whatever they need. But it's ok because I am going to work each day thinking it might be the last. @1key. You are so right. Time to dust off the old resume.
A best of belk award is useless. try paying your bills with it.
I'm a store manager, EVERY single manager in my immediate area is looking for a new job. Every. Single. One. Some say if they find a job, they will leave without notice. The job market is not the best in our area, it's not really bad, just not what it once was.
Same thing in our store.. mgr handed out the certificate and discount card and said do not tell anyone… when you work hard and do all that is expected of you and this is how they treat you??? Instead of celebrating you they make it seem like something secretive !!! This is the worst company to work for.. it is a ship that is sinking fast and we all need to realize this and be prepared for what the future …
when you see things like this happening not only at Belk but at any other company, dust off the old resume, and start job hunting, things like this do not happen in a normal, healthy, stable company, especially being secretive with no transparancy as to what qualifies you for this.
Yep, same here too. An inconspicuous hand off of certificate and discount card by manager. Warned not to discuss it with anyone else in store.
