I heard Richmond refinery is bleeding talent due to the strike. Also, Rule 65 is coming for the refineries in the east bay area. Will richmond end up being sold to another company like Shell Martinez was sold to pbf? What will happen to the Richmond technology center then?

Who in their right mind would buy Richmond?? No majors want refineries esp in Calif. the facility has been run into the ground and any potential buyer knows the terrible reliability issues it has from all

El Segundo will definitely be sold. Maybe as a package with Richmond. Newsome is squeezing everyone out.
Would never be sold. Possible it could be turned into import facility for El Segundo.

I would like to see us clean up Richmond and turn it into a clean energy park. Turn around our image and align with current reality.
This same rumor has been circulating for at least thirty years. Nothing new here.
Our California downstream is wildly profitable, as the California government has recently found out, haha. If they strangle our profits, that could change things. Otherwise, we will be there as long as Calif stays a great place to sell high priced gas.
California residents should begin preparing for $8/gal gasoline while we pay $3/gal in Texas. It's sad the Cali gov't has gone tilt...

Shell took a hard look a moving their HQ to Texas, I expect CVX is doing the same. Richmond is a legacy asset near and dear to the heart of CVX executives, once the company moves to Texas I expect Richmond to be gone, and downstream to be a much lower priority moving forward.
It’s funny cause in the Bay Area Chevron is showing a new commercial showing Chevron working on Climate issues and a quick snapshot of San Ramon Headquarters boldly stating we are a California Company. I can tell you one thing. Chevron will not abandon billion dollar assets in Richmond and El Segundo Refineries. With the Governor of California basically attacking Chevron personally I would think the war is on. They have to be aggressive in the Eco nuts trying to eliminate Oil Cos.
The writing's on the wall for any California operations. All will be sold or abandoned. Newsome could not care less about Chevron's 'history' and 'legacy' in California. Selling off SR headquarters was the first move.
