Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Can we cut the SCSMs already?

Not sure how many of you have to work with these people, but I have never found them to bring value.

The hybrid of both is definitely a step in the right direction. Upskill and uplevel on the tech, business acumen & org operational efficiency, and you’ve got the gold standard of any success org in tech

Much like TAM you have good ones and bad ones. I see TAMs who can't even present on the newest features of vSphere or bring any value without bringing someone else in to talk. I think both groups should have to reapply for their jobs to weed out the people who have been coasting.

Is Duhmit the right person to be the face of VMware?

Accurate statement for the majority of them, with just a handful of exceptions. I find most SCSM's to be good-hearted people who are victims of the train wreck that Duhmit and MeeTu built, and were spread way too thin from the start to add any sort of real value to their customers. The offering and the role were built wrong from the start, and thus the wrong people were put in that place. The new "technical adoption manager" revamp is a step towards trying to clean up Duhmit's mess. It still doesn't solve the biggest problems, but the new admin is at least trying.
