Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

One needs to know when it's the right time to leave

Get out on your own terms while you can. The market knows what's happening at MDT and other companies and even recruiters know they don't have to offer top dollar to ex MDT anymore since the market is already flooded with layoffs. It can be better to wait in some cases but if you need a new job and dont have the luxury of waiting months to find one, leave early otherwise you will be competing with 100s of other laid off people and even the offers you get will be terrible since they know you're desperate.

Great advice, @nlw+1lSlLAwa.

Wait for rif. Take advantage of severance first. It’ll be done on next few weeks. If not let go, then get he-l out.

Very sad, been with company 20+ years. It is not the same company. Sad.

Labor mkt is still pretty decent and $ seem to be 20% to 30% above mdt. Only thing is if you’re a long timer, the PTO offered doesn’t match MDT.

Think they’re going to see a lot of folks leave once they see what other companies will offer.

Yeah I thought I was joining a great project. It's actually novel in the US and fairly exciting technology. The problem is that the leadership is so toxic it is almost unbelievable. How a company can put the face they do to the outside yet treat people so terrible it's hypocrisy at its finest. Don't get me started on the cliques, managers picking out their yes-men, long timers unwillingness to help etc. Earl Bakken would be ashamed and disgusted.

Medtronic is a shell of it former self.

Join the club. I think all the people with under two years experience are saying "what in the heck did I do?"

I agree. Recruiters already know what’s happening and have started reaching out on LinkedIn. I thought I was joining a really great company when I joined but this whole year has been extremely disheartening.
