Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

NCR History

Saw a nice vid on YouTube posted by NCR regarding its roots in Dayton. Boy have things changed, that culture which founded the company and led to its success through the 90’s is long long gone or so it appears. NCR had what was essentially a “resort “ for employees and their families in Dayton….think of tech startup fun atmosphere with a lot of perks.
Being hindsight is 20/20, were employees in the past treated well or was employee moral in the pits as it is today? Were holidays celebrated? Work-life balance better?

NCR is not moving to Dayton. They need to show NCR's past to try to prove how great NCR is/was; however, don't be fooled that is not NCR today. Notice they did not show any current great history because they currently suck! They suck so bad they have to split the company in half since they could not get anyone to buy the company. They just mention how they will continue to blah blah blah , because present sucks.

To answer your question, yes back in the day NCR was a great family friendly company. We were all one big happy family. Employees were respected and treated well. Dayton life was great. It all went downhill when they moved to Georgia. Many good employees lost their jobs, Dayton community suffered and NCR went downhill and has continuously gone downhill since. Today NCR does not care about it's employees, nor do they respect their employees. The current CEO is a joke and has no clue ..... but he sure gets paid well to destroy a great American company.

To answer your question, yes NCR was family friendly back in the day. I was there from 1974 to 2018. Early days we had bowling , golf, basketball, softball teams. NCR day at the Zoo, NCR day at Kings Island. Birthday parties, retirement parties, Christmas parties. You knew everyone and their kids. Managers asked questions, set schedule for on-call and stand-by hours. Most everyone worked together, always a few on the fringe. But with 200 plus in the Columbus District office (sales, service and admin) it worked.

When NCR left Dayton it was a big big deal, so many Jobs lost, Sad what they did to the community. The CEO may burn it to the ground before any move even happens.

NCR is going to relocate to Dayton. It’s obvious at this point with all the trips there from senior management and the videos etc.

They need a lot more than returning to their roots to right the ship.
