What I heard was WD is going to have a 10% RIF; not 2%.

Suppose Seagate solves the reliability problem with HAMR. Will any customer single source drives for a project? Won't even be considered until WD and/or Toshiba also have the technology. Years away...

read their posts, they’re either confirming the bluff HAMR is or spreading fake news to keep WD reacting as they have 4 yrs Either way HAMR productization driving significant revenue is yrs away is more about who’s is bigger bragging rights

Given that the number of units they're selling are sharply dropping, it doesn't sound like customers are chomping at the bit for more storage. I don't think increasing areal density with HAMR will matter.

I heard WD is going to have 2% cut in upcoming one. Hope it drops to 1% as well.
