Pressured to take VSP?

There are surprisingly many people who say that they were pressured by their managers to take VSP. That's sad.

Totally agree with this post. So well said. I know Barra detested Mott before she became CEO. I was shocked that he was around for so long and it is crazy they would hire a boatload of Mott’s former employees and pay them a cr-p ton of money to have them come in and tell auto people we didn’t know what we were doing and they were the experts. Glad Mary finally moved some longer term GM leaders into leadership over IT.

“The real disaster in IT was bringing in Austin and the Mott-ley Crüe. Bringing in countless execs to replace a handful of Detroit-based ones with people with absolutely no auto industry experience. It was quite amusing to watch, while the VPs of major functions said nothing and the clown car of Texans proceeded to throw a monkey wrench into everything. No sympathy for all the difficulties and wasted cycles trying to get them up to speed.
You just know Mott had to have something on Barra and the auto ignition switch fiasco. It’s the only way to explain the incompetence he was allowed to exemplify and get away with for years.”

“you have it inverted”

If you actually believe that you’re probably going to be taken advantage of more than you know. Management already knows what the talent is and where they would like it to go. It’s a handful of people that are really concerned about. This is just another way to make it look like they actually give a sh-t about you.
And if what you say is true, they would’ve canceled all the postings and stopped anyone from moving between organizations. Face it. We’re all just cogs in the machine. Helping to earn those big stock grants for the company officers. Beyond that you serve no useful function.

"More than anything probably a way to identify yourself for termination."

You have it inverted. The talent card is a way to identify yourself for opportunity to not get terminated and perhaps opportunity to be selected for a different business function when cuts are happening. If you are the bottom of the food chain with little to no education or experience, then of course, you draw the shortest straw. But that's on you. It's corporation, not a charity or a group home.
There are endless tech jobs out there where you can work from home. Why stick around and complain? If you stick around, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Which really begs the question of stupid HR initiatives like talent cards. More than anything probably a way to identify yourself for termination.

GM has been a $35 stock for 13 years. 0 growth barring a small window of time during the scamdemic where people were given free cash from Mary's friend Joe.
During the last recession, in 2009, GM stock was worth $0.75 cents.

Unless he knew there wouldn't be an ISP but just wanted you to quit by pretending to look out for you.

Having your manager drop a hint to leave with a good package is far better than not leaving and getting told to leave with a lesser package.

I'm really surprised so many in IT are upset about all of this. Just a couple months ago, people were going to quit over RTO because of the endless remote IT jobs out there.
They were so certain. Now they want nothing more than to work for General Motors. What happened?
