When you see a HIRING FREEZE company wide.
The management team will need to develop a plan on which "BELOW" and "AT" folks that will be cut. New org charts and meetings to sow their plan to upper management.
Then the cuts, about 2 1/2 (~) after.

@1vgt+1lRtw8Wk I agree with you. I've been doing all that already. Saved money for more than a year expenses, my resume is updated and I've been selectively applying to jobs that interested me. I had a bunch of interviews already, and I was selected for an opening that didn't happen (I am guessing other companies are already changing their tunes too). I didn't expect to be still here at Ford.
Now, my stress levels are lower than before since I don't care that much for my job at Ford anyway (no extra hours, no worries about meeting all the goals), I know my resume is good (more than half of the positions I applied to, offered me an interview) and I can be one year without working. However, I still want to know what the sh!tiest minds in this company are planning right now for us.
My plan was not to wait until the pink slip, get whatever I could (package, unemployment) and then find another job, but maybe that's what will happen, since I don't have much in the job search pipeline now (that interested me). Of course, I can pick another cr@ppy job, but better the devil you know, right?
Farley loves running his mouth about having 25% more employees than we need. The fact of the matter is we only have two employees that we don't need; Farley and DF.
If I was still working there, i would ignore speculation and just come in and do my work every day. I would also squirrel away an emergency fund, keep my resume up-to-date, and keep my eyes and ears open for jobs of interest. You can't predict the future, you can however plan for it and be prepared. If you worry, you're doing yourself a health disservice.
So what about the comment made a few months ago when Farley said we have 25% more employees than we need? Somethings brewing. This is the calm before the storm...
Today
Big news....
F150 Guy told me that layoffs begin late this week and continue through next week.
Ford was waiting to see how GM's VSP turned out before making any big moves.
Get ready everyone...
well I see below there were no cuts in the bracket dept. this round - thankfully! But what about the connector dept? I assume with the ramping up in EV through the model E team the connector dept should be relatively safe? I know a couple of GSR in the conn group who seem kind of on edge lately, but I keep saying should be OK with the added electronics needed on future programs.
I love these F150 Guy threads.
If he was right about one, I think it was a fluke. Maybe he heard something that he shouldn't have and then promptly shared it with a friend - and then the friend immediately shared it here.
But everything else is just an opinion. None of them have planned out.
I think we will only know of coming layoffs the night before - and only if enough of us comment about unexpected meetings with higher ups suddenly appearing on our calendars. Certainly not in advance from 'F150 Guy'...
"My take, no layoffs."
Keep dreaming.
My take, no layoffs. They expect more retirements in November (after the 2023 August interest rate are set for the 2024 lump sum payout). Estimate another 500- 1000 retirements.
It saves Ford from having to pay separation $$.
@qhr If F150 guy is so enlightened, then he should have known about the HR issues. But since he didnt, it doesnt seem like he knows any more than Farley's gardener.
tomorrow
You can joke about F150 guy all want. But management wanted to do this last week, but was thwarted by HR. HR is still digging out from retirements at the end of last year.
Last year there was the April layoff. Followed by August. Based on that I would estimate HR will give the greenlight on the new layoffs by the middle of April. My guess? April 24th will be the day people are informed. With it being effective April 28th.
Bracket group needs more LL's to be successful. Any MBA or McKinsey cowgirl could have told you a long time ago. Bracketology is so complicated you need advanced degrees, consultants, and DEI help from the PR ladies to make it successful.
All's well in the bracket group. We are down to 17 LL5's, 8LL6's and 2 GSRs
Well according to one contractor poster, today )he was just told his contract was terminated)!
Have fun all you Ford suckers!! I escaped last year before the job market got really bad. No it is too late for the rest of you that furiously cling to a sinking ship.
Better ask F150 Guy!!
