Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Feb 28 President Biden announced his intent to appoint the following individuals to the President’s Export Council, including M. Roman

Recently, MR posted this on LinkedIn regarding the appointment:

“ As a global company that exports $5 billion annually from the United States, 3M has a unique view on how to support and strengthen free and fair trade. I am honored to join other leaders on the President’s Export Council to advise the White House on trade-related matters and advance American competitiveness.”

With all the crisis’ going on at 3M these days, I can’t believe how tone deaf this post is. What’s he going to do, export more jobs out of 3M? Spend time away from the company to mess up businesses elsewhere?

Denying that politics and 3M are not interrelated is denying reality. There is a causal relationship to political alliances and performance. Missteps lead to layoffs. People have the freedom to express their opinions. Attempting to control or redirect conversation is an early indicator of tyranny. So if President wants to ask 3M ceo for input so be it. Others have the right to express their opinion. It's called Freedom of Speech and great people have died for this right.

This is also the same president who started his comments about the Nashville church school shooting by talking about ice cream. Being tone deaf must be a leadership quality that translates into poor performance in both public and private sectors. With 3M it leads to layoffs.
