Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

HyVee doesn’t retain good talent.

HyVee has no desire to retain good talent. They are glad when high paying career employees are gone. Reason being is because they don’t want to pay them high wages for their experience. Remember good talented retail employees aren’t cheap and cheap retail employees aren’t talented. They are so focused on cutting labor the last 4 years they are ki-ling the talent at HyVee. That talented help they have laid off are the same ones who help built HyVee to the company it was 10 years ago. Do you think a nascar team would hire a cheap pit crew to save money. No because they no time is money and can afford to make slow mistakes in the pits that will cost them the win. HyVee takes the opposite approach. They hire people with no experience to save money but the reality is it’s costing them the race. If we are just looking at cutting labor budget to increase our profit I would get cut everyone pay on at corporate to 65k a year. I would also take randy approach that if they won’t stay for 65k a year then they don’t belong at HyVee.

Hy-Vee is not a "mission" -- it is a for-profit corporation, and yes, people work there for the money. As for corporate salaries -- unless you are a very top officer, pay is average at best, and expectations for that average salary are absurdly unrealistic in 2023. If you want mission, work for a nonprofit. If you want money, work at almost any other corporation. Hy-Vee is the worst of both worlds.

I left hy-vee three years ago last month, after a fruitless 18 years with them. Instantly, my health improved, within 3 months, my hemorrhoids and ulcers were gone....went with a competitor three years ago, and am now making nearly 3 times what I ended at hyvee weekly with.

Words fail to describe now what it was like at hyvee, compared to what I have now, but one does come mind....nightmare.

The Corporate office SUCKS! The ad committee alone is worthless. They can’t keep anything straight. The things sent to the stores are wrong. There are numerous ad corrections & when you comment o them or ask questions you get snippy answers. They ALL need to work at store level for awhile to understand how bad they suck.

Well do you think any of them is worth more than 65k? Well based on the last few years non of them is worth more that 65k. Plus if you are working at HyVee for the money then you are probably not the type of employee we want to retain. You should be working at HyVee to help the mission not yourself interest of money.
