While some of us may survive this round of layoffs, the outlook of Medtronic does not look good long term. Our leadership is incapable of running this company, while our competitors are stomping down our throats. The damage done on piling back orders, not being able to get product to customers, and destroying relationships with our suppliers and customers will ultimately cause Medtronic to be an afterthought in this space. Customers can’t rely on us to provide them product because of this terrible corporate leadership and initiatives, why should they ever trust us again and buy from us. It’s best for us to take our talents elsewhere with more purpose, leadership, and decisive actions. I’ve lost my faith in this company and can no longer see my hard work not come to fruition because of our terrible leadership, I will take my talent elsewhere to make an immediate impact on this world while Medtronic just runs into the ground. I’ve been with Medtronic 10+ years and I can longer support this company if our leadership continues to run this company in a downward spiral.

One example is that we had trash cans in our cubs someone else would empty, obviously that was super privileged and had to end. Another example, we didn't need to spend hours trying to find our packages every week, they were actually delivered to our cubes so we could focus on what we were hired to do. Now, they can't even afford to heat the building during business hours so I'd say it's going the wrong direction.
Agree! You need to move past sunk cost fallacy and have a clear eyed view of what’s happening
Medtronic will spend the next 5 years divesting and becoming a different company. What JnJ devices did 5+ years ago.
When "bigger is better" seemed brilliant they bought Covidien and other unrelated low-margin companies, bizarre investments in The Next Thing and let their core businesses falter.
" Look at intuitive surgical, they only have one product and they are almost worth as all of Medtronic. "
That's amazing. Lack of diversification is a concern, however.
"So now they flat out tell the sales force we will keep you through the end of the quarter then do layoffs, How is that ok? Use us then drop us"
That's odd. It's hard to image that they would reduce the sales force as increase in revenue or growth is utterly important. Anyway, it may be welcome news for the competitors. Laid off sales people would be happy to receive a nice severance package and a fat signup bonus from one of the competitors.

Pretty the same - not that different. It was much better when Win Wallin & Bill George were CEOs, however.
Grass may not be greener elsewhere. Be patient and do your best to contribute.

This company has been too complacent for many years. It’s no wonder why no one invests in this company. Just like inflation, you don’t want to continue developing here because you will quickly fall behind on cutting edge technology. That is why there is so much fat, complacency, lack of motivation of serving our customers unwaveringly, from top to bottom. Look at intuitive surgical, they only have one product and they are almost worth as all of Medtronic. Best make a bigger impact somewhere else and stay competitive in your marketability. Medtronic may be considered the next GE/Enron and you don’t want that on your resume.
