I am giving notice within the next few days. Got a better job. How likely is it they will fire me when I give notice?

If you’re in any “at will” state yes they can. Do you have recourse maybe. And that maybe is if you had notified ncr of on going within the company and you. They can fire you if they already have someone ready to take your place. They also know you can’t just quit and file unemployment. You won’t get if you try. You may get if you’re fired and can prove you were wrongfully fired. So much shyt. Line your ducks up. Buy external hdd and copy what you want. preferably before you Serve your intent. Yea usb ports may locked , but your home router should have one.
If you suspect you’re being outsourced, make sure you have external backups of your data and cell phone if you wish to keep any of it. Your phone will be reset to factory settings and you laptop locked down immediately. NCR will already have copied your stuff in the background. Keep both turned off as much as possible. Also, test your laptop with. USB stick, if you can’t copy anything to the usb stick they already have locked you down and you will be terminated in the next day or two. The process is really ugly. Talk to someone who has been through it, there is a lot to it all, not the easiest process to figure out.
If you are not at least an Executive Director level or higher you'll be working your full time given. If you are an ED or higher it will depend on your current impact but more than likely be asked to turn in anything NCR property and asked to leave. Have seen this twice since just a year ago.
Use up any vacation and PA time first. Never leave anything on the table. Also, collect anything you want to keep, photos of friends, contact information etc. I was RIF'ed in 2018 and did not have time to collect things like this and I miss them.
when you give your notice, do it via email to everyone on your territory and include your SGM. Once your gone and free of NCR you'll never consider going back.
Good news and congratulations. Hopefully I will make the same announcement soon. Unlikely but you never know with NCR. Normal companies let you finish your last 2 weeks to clean up but on my end they will probably assign a bunch of network calls so I don’t have a lot of time to get things in order.
