Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

HyVee jobs

HyVee used to be a place where people wanted to work. Department managers were respected and knew the industry. They cared. Not so much anymore. Department managers now are young people that really don't care if their department makes a profit. Inexperienced and less pay makes it hard for customers to shop. Profits down. Customer count down. Market share down. HyVee seems to be circling the proverbial toilet bowl.

Well all i can say is left hyvee. I certainly understand the comment about chasing out dept managers with industry knowledge. I help train some younger managers and i will say 2 i work were smart and creative. They also we sponge asking me questions. I told them i left expect to work 60 to 65 hours a week. Hyvee is breaking laws with salary dept mgr and they will get caught again. So being expected to work 7 days a week and 60 to 70 hours is hyvee culture for managers. When pay get cut and mgr figure out full time folks less job duties make same rate high turnover in manangenent will happen

HyVee doesn’t want to pay employees. Layoffs in 2020 were targeted toward seasoned high paying employees. Now 3 years later store lack experience needed to win those battles everyday at store level. They targeted those employees to chase profit not realizing they are ki-ling themselves in the long term. Why don’t all the top guys take a pay cut. Let’s see how much money HyVee would save if the salary cap from ceo to store director was set at 100k. You say that’s too low and people would quit. Well if they cant take a reasonable wage like a 100k cap to save this company then maybe they don’t deserve to work for HyVee. They will fire all of the store employees before they will every look at salary cap pay for the top leadership. That’s why it’s stores employees vs HyVee corporate leadership. They will always save themselves even if it mean the company will go bankrupt.
