Thread regarding VMware layoffs

UK CMA Decision

UK CMA came back today. Looks like they have given 1 week to present undertakings that address their concerns. otherwise it will go to a phase 2.

As if SmartNICs are gaining market share in any meaningful way.

This list isn't even trying hard.

And once again, the lack of information and transparency coming from vmw on acquisition updates is very noticeable.

Interesting that the CMA didn’t have issues like these noted when Dell purchased EMC. With Dell owning 85% of VMW I would have thought that acquisition would have raised competition eyebrows. I believe Broadcom’s history of dodgy business practices is coming back to haunt them.

UK Phase 2

Duration of the inquiry

One extension of no more than eight weeks may be allowed. Historically, Phase 2 investigations have generally taken at least 20 weeks and usually the full 24 weeks. There is no option to speed up this Phase 2 process.

Wow that’s a long list of concerns to answer in 5 days. High chance it goes to phase II. Anyone know the timeline of phase II UK investigation?

And no word yet on when FTC will rule. Everyone is so focused on EU.
