Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Advice

So my last day is Friday, I still haven't found another job yet. I got offered to transfer to another location, same position, same pay, I keep my benefits, steady paycheck. I was thinking just sticking around till I find something else, unemployment won't even cover my rent plus retentionbonus was a joke. What does everyone think?

without a new job, there's nothing to lose in transferring for the time being, as long as you keep looking for that new job

the paycheck will be more then the unemployment would be, at the very least

Stay and work from a position of strength when looking for a new job. It’s better to turn down a job that you don’t want then to have to take it and be stuck In possibly another mess like the one you’re in now. A new employer knows that you don’t have a job they can easily low ball you with an offer knowing you have no other choice. He-l if you stay and at the rate people or leaving you could be a dm soon. Lol. Good luck know matter what you choice.

LEAVE!!

Nobody stays on at the “same rate” that’s a bunch of BS. Especially if transferring out of state. It’s not worth it. Start anew.

I stayed on, rather than take severance, back in August. I was fortunate that I was at the number one store in a metro area known for obscene consumerism, so I actually kept my full schedule through the holidays, just without the benefits, until I started a new job in January.

Odds are in your favor if you are still working when you apply.

Many had this approach back in September. Those same people abruptly lost their jobs in January. Keep that in mind. The ship is sinking but rock bottom could be tomorrow.

Unless you are completely miserable, I would stay to keep the steady paycheck. But I also wouldn’t get complacent about it. Do your work but keep the assumption that you are still going to lose your job and keep looking for a new one.

The smart move is to stay until you find something else. Hopefully that will be soon since you're on a sinking ship.
