The decision to close non-profit stores

I'm so glad that someone here mentioned it. Why is that some stores that haven't been profitable since the beginning of the pandemic until today aren't closed already? Why is it so difficult for the management to make the decision to close unprofitable stores in some cases?

I have seen this 20 to the 25-million-dollar number thrown around a lot. However, I have seen people say a single month and a quarter. Which is it, and where did number come from? I don't disagree; I am just curious as I have seen a few different things surrounding this topic.

The fact is HyVee lost 25 million last month so it’s not really working. By the way HyVee’s warehouse charges to much. It’s a sad thing when it cheaper for the stores to buy product from an outside vendor than it’s own warehouse. Can anyone tell me why? ???

There is formula where store not making money still can be making money for company overall. Its simple math warehouses usually charge 1 percent to 1.5 up charge on freight deliveried to store. So if losing .75 percent. Its still turning a .25 profit plus increases buying power for company on deals from manufactures. The old nash finch always bragged about warehouse profits. Not realizing if didnt have stores to supply there was zero overall profit for company. Any store losing 1.5 percent on net sales should close today. Esp if trend for over year or 2. But randy rather spend millons supporting major sports franchises. Lowes is hurting. Like hyvee. First thing they did cut nascar funding. We blowing money on indy car. Not hyvee job to save private investor that built a race track in newton. I think rusty wallace got track going and built. Newton should be more worried about maytag than a race track. Or replacing long term real job growth not a one time event. Maybe hyvee could build new ecomm center in newton. A new iT
Space in vacant buildings.

Covid was the golden goose for all the stores Can’t make it profitable during that era you won’t ever make it. I’m not sure why HyVee continues to keep these stores around. The top leadership aka randy and Lil randy keep proving to everyone that they don’t know how to run a business. Image the instant profit HyVee would have if they didn’t have to pay for 1/3 of the stores that don’t make money. If they sold those stores and properties they would have money to invest into new stores that better reflect them in the current store format. I would love to hear from Jeremy Gosch why he wants to waste money on non profitable stores. We all know HyVee has no issue firing employee when they need to cut labor. I’m sure he will say in his video that we are family and doesn’t want to close stores because it’s not fair to the employees. The only thing Jeremy Gosch has done to make HyVee profitable is to cut the employee discount. Way to go genius. You tried something but then the blowback made the company look bad. Why dont you focus on the real issue HyVee is having. The insanity won’t stop until HyVee is bankrupt. Look past your ego and focus on real issues to make HyVee great again. The last ten years have been a ship wreck.
