The supply chain and sourcing groups needs to be held accountable for backorder issues yet they have determined to be immune to these layoffs. They are the biggest contributor to our poor performance. Greg Smith and Geoff Martha need to go. They are encouraging this terrible behavior. Board step up and save this company.

Geoff Martha is shall stay in his baseball stadium eating hot dog with family or taking Christmas picture.
He absolutely destroyed the great Medtronic.
At least, it was bold to destroy this.
Folks, write your complaints to the board of directors at the link below. I’ve been working at this company for 10+ years and hate having Geoff and his jokers drag this great company to the ground. He must the ousted and a strong decisive leader needs to step in. We need a parent in the room to run this company, not some woke child.

Doesn’t stop there but some of the vps under Greg and vps under them. They definitely can’t retain key talent which would have helped get us there but instead we are continuously getting new people up to speed to make decisions and tasks are forgotten and ownership is always in question, but hey they implemented more formal approval processes
Don’t forget about our new WOKE storyteller Torod. Thanks Geoff for fixing the Medtronic culture. What a hot mess
Greg Smith, this not Walmart where you can cut out our critical suppliers making products for us because it doesn’t fit your sourcing narrative at other companies you have been. Our customers rely on life changing products and supply should never be disturbed to save a buck. You should be ashamed of yourself for not serving our customers who need our life changing products. You need to be fired along with Geoff who encouraged him and brought him on. We are suffering because of your mistakes.
It’s true that Geoff took over at a tough time but also true that he is clearly not up to the task and not the right person for the job at this point in time. I’m sure he thought he was going to ride the wave of success of Omar, do a few acquisitions here and there, a bit of restructuring, then kick his feet up and be a hero. Instead he has to actually solve complex problems and he’s flailing.
Oh please, these guys are highly paid executives. They should be more than competent to get their job done. If they cant then out they go, like anyone else who can’t do the job they’ve been paid to do. No excuse for not getting product out to our customers, they should not be going home until they get their job done. But all they are doing is virtue signaling to show they are doing “miracle” work.
Frankly, I am the first one to always blame Geoff for when things go wrong with this company. But also lets be realistic - he took over right when Covid started, has never been a CEO o, company has not been set up to be competitive in a new business environment with many startups springing up left and right, he made some good changes but it will take time for those to show. So yes, he is trailing competition but also medtronic had some unique challenges that others didnt. So yes, blame Geoff, Greg but also lets be realistic...they are not miracle workers.
Per this articles global operations, sourcing, and quality are protected. https://www.massdevice.com/medtronic-voluntary-early-retirement-program-layoffs/
We have no other excuse about “supply issues” when our competitors have resolved their backorder issues months ago. This leadership team is a joke.
Who said Operations is immune to layoffs?
Pretty sure every business is on the list for 5-10% reduction by April
