I'm guessing that closing stores is a last-ditch move that would portend a sell-off of those that remain.

In 2019 1/3 of the stores were not profitable. If I was HyVee any store that wasn’t profitable during Covid money rush I would close. If your store couldn’t turn a profit in the Covid years it’s not going to happen.HyVee top management has to much of an ego to close stores. They has lost logical thinking at that level.

I would be interested to know how many of these stores do not turn a profit.

Don’t worry thou. For the stores that are closing they are going to be offering those employees jobs at corporate office. That way no one has to be laid off.

I don’t know if it’s rumors but I have heard they are looking at closing most stores that don’t turn a profit.
