I'm confused about why we're still hiring when we're in the middle of a cost-cutting season and I'd also like to know how can Medtronic even find people who are willing to join at this place in time. Our reputation is suffering. The word about how the company is treating employees has gotten around. Why would anybody be willing to join such a mess?

it's important to keep in mind that companies often have a specific business need or strategy that drives their hiring decisions.
For example, if a company is developing new software products, they may prioritize hiring software engineers with the necessary skill set to accomplish that goal. Conversely, if the company is focused on hardware development, they may prioritize hiring engineers with expertise in hardware, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
It's also important to remember that hiring & RIF decisions can be influenced by many factors, such as market demand, competition, and available resources(skillset variability). Sometimes companies may have to make tough decisions about which skills to prioritize in order to stay competitive and meet their business goals.
In any case, it's important to stay adaptable and continue to develop your skills and expertise in your field. This can help you remain competitive in the job market and increase your chances of finding a job that matches your skill set and interests.
