Fun days at vmware. Shitshow. Management chain incompetence is very visible nowadays. Kids are becoming managers with 15+ experience engineers reporting to them. Pieces of S H I T. All over.

I bet they haven't spoken to a single customer in their career tii
I saw some very young salespeople get promoted to the enterprise space as AEs. Found it strange... Considering the majority of enterprise reps have 10-15 years of experience.🤷
Tons of "director" titles with zero reports that are fresh college grads. I can think of quite a few that when looking at their LI their last job was as an intern. Guess director titles is how you get more money nowadays
Kids? Are you talking recent college grad age or....?
Seeing managers post selfies with Betsy Sutter on LI.
Seeing managers post on LI about the importance of aligning with sales, when you have heard them say for months that sales is worthless, sellers don't know the customer, sales leadership is shambolic, etc.
These people have no souls.
Pat was definitely the first to jump on the DEI bandwagon.
Too bad we weren't acquired by a DEI private equity firm! :)

DEI is the red herring. Bad Managment is the reason VMware is going the way of the dodo. Don’t let you frustrations of DEI wash over the core reasons for the colossal failure of VMware. Was Magoo a DEI hire?
When Magoo took over he made DEI a KPI for leadership bonuses. I don’t remember whether he said that in his stupid four page memo or separately. So of course everybody screams DEI.
"By the way, we could stop DEI as well, though thinking that is the single cause of all problems"
No one said that. No one even tried to say it, other than you.
DEI is a cancer and it should be stopped. Regardless of how well or badly the company is doing, DEI is a cancer and it should be stopped.
There are so many issues that I'd say it's impossible to lay the blame on anyone or any one thing. DEI is divisive and incompetent but it's more of an annoyance in the grand scheme of things. So what if the folks in DEI don't do real work? So what if they use their budget to enrich their friends by listing them as "vendors" with no oversight? It's a small portion of the bigger picture.
Didn’t Wang Laboratories fail because of DEI? How else could it have happened?
Heres a solution. Since DEI doesnt work, stop doing DEI. There you go. A simple, complete solution.
So funny! So VMware was doing fantastic when there wasn’t DEI? Nope. Everyone got complacent, acquisitions without strategy, no innovation. By the way, we could stop DEI as well, though thinking that is the single cause of all problems is an insane as thinking systemic racism is the cause of all problems.
Very short sighted, but hey, go on your anger rant. Get your blood pressure up. Maybe start a fight or two in the street. You know the state captial isn’t going to riot itself. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you!
And there we have yet one more example on how dysfunctional our society has become.
Customers don't care about DEI. They want products that work and support that is responsive. The ones who are not accountable and cause failure are the DEI hires who don't know anything and can't do their jobs. There is always a market for people who know the products and know the customers. Once the cut backs start their won't be any money for DEI hires and virtue signaling. Good bye losers.
Losers complaining about DEI should be the first ones to go. No accountability and blaming others for your failures. Good luck finding a new job in a market that serves a diverse customer set.
"Do you have solutions, or just attacks with divisive labels?"
Heres a solution. Since DEI doesnt work, stop doing DEI.

Couldn't agree more. Attacks and divisiveness all in the name of DEI. In light of conditions, globally, my wish is libs do a gut check before you get us ki-led
No better example than the person who created the train wreck called Customer Success being promoted to President of the entire company, except maybe the last few CEOs.
Do you have solutions, or just attacks with divisive labels?
In case you haven’t noticed, no one has solutions, people only have attacks and divisiveness. Welcome to the new world order. We only have ourselves as an overall society to blame.
VMware is just a microcosm of what happens when liberal California
sc-m who think they are smarter than all of us get control.
It's funny that the person calling liberals 'sc-m who are smarter than all of us' doesn't see the irony that his statement means that they are smarter.
So, good Sir, exactly how should this be done the right way?
Do you have solutions, or just attacks with divisive labels?
Yes, Grasshopper. Use this situation to your advantage.
Kid managers making technical decisions over tech lead concerns is like watching a car crash in slow motion.
Just tell the kids that the flange needs to be revisited and the source code needs an expediency review for fear of inequity. Then go smoke a nice big one and enjoy your day.
All about job titles for them - even if they are useless (and I have seen a 'teamleader' for a PSO team in EMEA being useless promoted to senior followed by director and senior director with a span of 2 years leading some useless team without reports), they get the title of their CV / Resume and probably end up getting a nicely warm and cozy job somewhere else.
I for one cannot wait for some RIFs ...
It's the same thing happening to the nation. VMware is just a microcosm of what happens when liberal California sc-m who think they are smarter than all of us get control.
Sounds like my management stack.
And they all cover for each other.
No way those people could have landed those roles outside of the massive overhiring market of the past few years.
Just wait til the RIFs. Will be fun to watch.
