Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Still think VMware is something special

I left VMware because I felt that I came to a dead end. Does not mean I still don’t think it is something special. Please don’t loose sight. VMware customers still believe in VMware. Who knows how this will end, but please don’t forget those who still believe.

@1nth+1l8ndQtJ I understand that and fair point. My point is that there are many people who aren’t being objective about discussing the lay off. They are here to party it up at the expense of those VMware employees and the uncertainty of their situation. It’s like seeing someone you envied fall from grace. It’s pathetic and low. How many poste have you seen on this sub “layoffs next week”, “massive january cuts” and more nonsense like this. There are literally people that come on here, creat posts claiming they know something with disregard to other people’s situation. Human trash

@1stb+1l8ndQtJ Why don't you go back to VMware now? Nothing is stopping you.

This board is to discuss Vmware layoffs, not to spread rose petals before the feet of incompetent VMware execs.

There is so many people on this sub that you can easily sense their resentment of VMware from their posts. They must be either people who got rejected from there, couldnt cut it there, or is jealous of people that work there. Like this “veteran seller” mo--n. There is a lot of companies that are run worse or as bad as VMware, do you go on all their pages to talk sh-t? No, so why VMware? I left VMware hastly after the merger announcement and am increasingly regretful of my decision but Im not enough of a loser to hate on the company to compensate.

VMware is a great place to work in/have in your CV, a market leading giant that happens to pay well, great benefits, and depending on your BU, low stress and good work life. So keep moaning losers, I hope the company survives, because I will happily return to it in due time

Get those downvotes ready! This OP reads like a Hallmark card...or a cheap Chinese-made wall-hanging you buy at Dollar Tree: "Live - Love - Laugh."

Yes: this OP is the "Live - Love - Laugh" of this board.

When I wonder why so many Big Tech companies - and VMW in particular - are essentially cults, I only need to look at this OP to see why. The proof is here. The word "believe" is used twice in this OP.

We are told in the OP that "customers believe" - really? We're sure of that, are we? As a veteran seller, I know that customer do not believe in anything except getting the job done and value for money. That's it. "Believing" does not enter into the equation. Either the product works and delivers value, or it doesn't. If customers can find it better or cheaper elsewhere, they will dump VMW in a heartbeat.

I get that many veteran VMWers - those who are still at the company and those who left - have a hard time letting go of their cherished teddy bear, sitting up on the hill in Palo Alto. Hey, I get it. I am a cynic when it comes to these things. To me, "believing" in a company - an entity whose sole purpose is to make money (yes: read that again) - is a fool's errand.

Grow up. Find something else to believe in - something not traded on the public markets.
