Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

How do I know how I performed on my CAP?

Just had my CAP and my manager seemed a little cagey. I'm looking at 2022 payout. "2022 Actual Team GM Performance Plan Pay Out $32000" I'm only getting $16000. Does that mean I'm a poor performer - as in PIP? Or 50% is just the average payout and I'm just in the middle. I know we're stack ranked. So how do I know how well I performed?

My reporting manager jerk use to calls me after 5.30 pm and ask about 5 year ago work status. By mistake he came on video call and i can see room full of smoke. Dude was on 420 after his wife came from work and thought of bulling me. This almost continue for 3 years . Finally i call awareness line and they told he is under protection class they cant do anything. I left job. This same dude share story about slavery in all team meetings.

50% is considered GM minus which was formerly a one two or four box.... this means low performer. From what I'm reading on this board chances are you'll be put on a PFI or walk out

Are you the same person who has the teams meeting with HR over performance?

I'm starting to wonder if instead of a mass layoff, GM is going after under-performers.
I've never seen them do this before but I heard that big tech companies like Facebook are doing it. Strategic mass layoffs, using poor performance as the reason to avoid lawsuits.

From what I've heard, getting 50% means there are people on your team that got the other 50%. It's GM's way of firing you by making you quit. It's all by the book. It doesn't mean you actually did anything wrong or even a bad job. It just means your manager doesn't like you. That's why a lot of people at GM do things in ways that make it impossible to fire them without being catastrophic for the team. It's not the usually the good way of doing things. It just necessary to protect yourself.

Hey buddy - without full knowledge of all the details I’d say 50% of potential payout is not a good sign for your performance rating. As others have said I’d have a conversation with my boss to understand the situation.

If you received only half of what you were eligible for, that’s not good - and it indicates you underperformed. But as you are supposed to receive notice of your compensation during your 2022 performance review, you probably should have already known this.

That's not the language of the CAP form. Post your details of that, and you'll answer your own question.

I went through a PIP a few years ago. Worked for a jerk who did dr-gs (I saw him take it). In GM, the culture is toxic and has been for a while. I have since left and am at a senior leadership position now and way happier. LEAVE while you can.

If you didn't finish your company required training on time. TeamGM automatic reduce to 50%.

OP, Based on your level you have a target % for Team GM. With 158% percent payout, that’s your target payout for this year. If you received equal amount you are meets, if less your rating is below.
This year there is no 9 box. Below, meet and exceed rating only.

The 2022 number is what you got last year. We didn’t receive as much this year so you are probably fine.

Original poster - with follow up question. How then is the bonus calculated? How is my individual performance factored in? Should I be worried?
