However it depends on the boss.
Once you volunteer, it is their discretion to give you a package or not.
There is no way back once you open such conversation.
Just talk to your boss offline in person. If he has to find someone to let go and now you volunteer for it, it’s a win-win situation. Many have done that and not just at Micron.
Start speaking up in meetings if you don’t understand something. Your boss will try to stop you and suggest to take things offline but don’t give in. Do NOT give in, make your point, prove that the boss is confidently making a wrong comment. Walk around with a smile, play pool, come and leave on time. The boss will get threatened and write you off in next layoff. This is the only company which has arrogant bosses who know less than their employees.
