Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Parks are still seriously understaffed

I don't see how any of the parks could be affected by these layoffs. We are severely understaffed as it is and I know this is not just an issue for my location. We're yet to recover from the pandemic-related cuts. So many people didn't want to return and few want to join. How can they consider laying anybody off in these circumstances?

Not sure about wokeness, but I know Disney parks have really slid in quality. I can go free as a guest with my friend who works on Burbank campus, but for last few years I decline her invites there. I don’t have kids to worry about but the experience is excruciating. Waiting for rides in the hot sun, too many people, way more dirtier than when I was a kid, ugh: hard pass. Even with her discount, prices are just normal prices instead of exorbitant. And now she like many others is worried about her job….

Yeah DPEP should be pretty untouched, the big changes are being made at DMED.

what you call "wokeness" is what the investment class refer to as ESG. call the scam whatever you want, but its affect is the same and its terrible for businesses that participate in it. ESG is destroying companies like Disney which may actually be a good thing.

Been told no cuts to hourly frontline staff in parks.

I think most of the cuts are in entertainment, aren't they? even if they aren't going to make cuts in the parks, the question is why they aren't taking their cost savings and putting them back into the parks? I think the financial situation at disney is far, far worse than anyone is willing to admit and somehow there is still a fringe group of neophytes that refuse to acknowledge that it's primarily due to wokeness.
