Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Thursday's HCBG Q1 Town Hall Statement

During the Thursday HCBG Q1 Town Hall, a statement was made by Mike Ottesen about making sure to carve out ONE hour for your Wife and Family during the weekday.

I like to stay employed with for my benefits and paycheck but if that's the direction from top leadership, I must be with the wrong company. I work to live, not live to work.

Sorry, that statement caught me wrong. Good for him for being dedicated to his craft but I feel bad for his wife and family that is his "goal".

No , that comment was from someone smart enough to not have to be at the
mercy of 3M. 99% of the unskilled workers are scared because 3M is the goose that lays the golden egg, year after year. Except the Goose is dying. The execs aren’t bothered because they’ll get new jobs, probably even higher paid

To the guy retiring at 60 who missed his kids grow up, hardly 3Ms fault that you’re a loser who had to do an unskilled job working 12 hour nights.
Can’t blame MR for the the fact you’re stupid

There's a fabled story of a person who actually scheduled "romantic time" with spouse in calendar. Smh.

For the last 20 years, since mcnerney, 3M has treated employees like mice running on a wheel to generate enough electricity to power the house. Disposable and fed cheaply.

If one mouse is let go, the other mice left behind are told to run faster (and not paid any more food).

Meanwhile, the mice owners (3M senior bosses) decide the house isn't warm enough and turn on an electric heater, putting more pressure on fewer mice to generate power.

This comment amount dedicating ONE hour to family is a Freudian slip. This is how they really think! Eff em.

Some people are probably still working late in the day in cottage grove or at home or 3M Center when it's time to go home.

Oh hey tireman, which brand of scotch is on the menu tonight?

I was on the morning session of the town hall (EMEA based) and choked when he said how well-being was important and therefore won’t work after 8pm, will only triage emails at the weekend and that his 60 hours work a week should suffice. I’m sure most people are contracted to work 40 hours. So why work 50% more for no additional pay!? Perhaps they might need to employ more people to do the job if you’re working 60 hours.

No. You will see you family one hour a day, and you will take your 2% raise and you will like it.
