Thread regarding Change Healthcare layoffs

Layoffs are happening

All of it is true. Hundreds are being notified today and will have one month then the 3rd round will happen on March 9th and will terminate on April 9th, just after year end and Q4.

I know people are being notified today, but can anybody confirm the rest of this?

Dang. I just started with Change about 6 months ago. I love my job and team. I’m in a customer facing role yet I have no sense of security. I knew nothing about layoffs until I found this site. It’s strange that they haven’t shared anything internally. I guess that’s one of the drawbacks of everyone being remote.

I got an email today that they will send out individual emails to all employees on March 9 with salary band, PTO, and job title information. I can definitely see that including layoffs.

I think it is safe to say that Change Healthcare is in a sad state of affairs at this point. No One is safe. It's difficult to tell the fact from fiction anymore. Not sure anything being disseminated in townhalls or fireside chats is truthful. Soon there will be nothing to save anyway. Customers will be fleeing for lack of good service due to their decimation of staff (the "biggest assets") slashed with complete disregard for intrinsic knowledge. Horrific!

The "clusterfuck" in my organization started when the merger was announced. We've been bleeding talented and essential people with little opportunity to bring on acceptable (let alone exceptional) replacements ever since. Since about a year ago, we've only been able to successfully onboard one person while we need half a dozen great people.

I can confirm the next round of notifications will be March 9.

"According to what I understand August Calhoun is impacted too"...that would be a surprise since he was announced as the new head of the "Growth Team". Tell you what, the guy should be RIF'd after numerous hires/fires he made at Change. He's an id--t, lacks substantive industry knowledge and is self-centered as he-l! Blame Neil D. if this bo-b sticks around!

To the poster of “I am confused. I think I just heard our leaders say, "Our biggest assets are our employees" and "We cannot thank you enough for the hard work you all do" and the best one, "We value you".”:

Stop drinking the kool aid. Those are just canned statements. Shortly after these layoff waves, they have 1 sec of empathy and then they quickly move on to say “how excited they are to…blah blah”

Two weeks per year was definitely a lie.

I’ve heard 2 weeks pay for every year of service.

Re: Health insurance -- Sounds like they will give you a month of paying their part of the premium. However, AFTER that runs out, you still have the right to COBRA coverage, which you can continue for 19 months. Of course, you'll be saddled with 100% of the premium, but that would be nothing compared to paying out-of-pocket for cancer care (impossible in our broken healthcare system). GOOD LUCK AND DO SOME RESEARCH. You are entitled to that coverage.

To the person asking about health insurance, I’ve heard from others from the last wave that they got 1 month of health insurance after their last date of employment. I’m sorry you are going through this and hope you find a good job quickly.

The main topic of this post seems to center around whether there will be a third set of layoffs in early March.

So far everything else leaked on this forum has come true so I have no doubt that there will be another round in March. The February round seems to have affected middle management. The March round could impact us at the product level and the individual contributors.

My husband has been unable to work due to cancer treatments. I was notified that I would be laid off. Does anyone know if the severance package offers health insurance? I’m trying to keep it together for my husband and children.

My organization didn't have any layoffs.

My entire team was told over a MS Teams call.
No email about what the severance package looks like. For a company to tell you that you have 28 days left and not give any additional details is disgraceful.

It is correct. Today, I got laid off, too. It is so sad to leave my coworkers who are pretty humanly with no ego. To be honest, I was happy to work in a non-toxic environment. Merging with Optum put me to unknown situation.

Lost my job today. Leadership has no plan on how to fulfill client needs in the interim. I get severing ties with dual functionality but the methods need to be carefully planned. In the case of my BU, this clearly didn't take place. I feel for my teammates left with the burden and ultimately the clients that will feel the impact.

All the term notices out and no defined action plan going forward. How will terms impact everyone else? New workloads? Shifting responsibilities? Etc? Nothing. Having to join the rat race and interview may not be enjoyable but it may be better than the clusterfuck that is about to begin…

I love my job and coworkers as well we are all like family and it's sad to see so many loyal and dedicated workers being layed off!! I guess I'm free from today's notifications and in all honestly with those layers off in the previous one we are short handed probably like all other debts. At change. The no job security is the only complaint I have about my job!

I am confused. I think I just heard our leaders say, "Our biggest assets are our employees" and "We cannot thank you enough for the hard work you all do" and the best one, "We value you".

For 3 years with CHC all I have seen with any consistency is 2-3 RIFs a year. No wonder the culture is frozen like a bunny in a field of wolves.

run rabbit run!!

I say, this is not shocking considering acquisition of this size. Largest acquisition by far for UHG Optum if I read correctly, somewhere. More to come

So scary as I love my job and the people I work with, I am so sad to see my boss lose their position today, the years they put in, it's heart breaking. I fear my position in the next round, or even my fellow co-workers. I have a great team & leaders!
