Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

How good GA is to work for depends on where you are in your career

I will say GA is a great place to get a paycheck from. And the rest depends on what you are looking for and what stage you are at in your career. If you are at the twilight of your career GA is an excellent place to ride off into the sunset. One can literally cruise to the finish line as long as you don’t create waves. If your at the beginning of your career it’s a horrible place to be at bc you are underpaid, learn horrible habits, learn a horrible work ethic and it will be a major shock to work at another company. As far as pay is concerns - it sucks and it’s my competition for a 40 hour work week… BUT no one works 40hrs at GA… it’s more of a 25 hr work week… thus the pay is great and the work minimal… so it just depends on what one is looking for

I don’t think divisions have anything to do with GA work ethic at least in ASI… everyone is working towards completion of builds so if one division is slack the other will naturally slack bc of the bottle necks …. One division can cause everyone else’s work ethic to suck bc people naturally start being lazy bc working hard can have them have no work for weeks or months… then layoffs may come… so being lazy keeps everyone happy

GA does not have an excellent benefit package and the “pension” they offer is not even close to a pension of yesteryears it’s more of a joke for people who don’t know any better. GA pays below the going rate but they are a 3rd tier defense company… GA recently announce they are willing to sell its drones to Ukraine for $1 and Ukraine decline… kind of leaves one speechless and what the world thinks of GA equipment

GA Work experience is very dependent on which division you work for. Some push very hard while others have varying work loads. Most senior people put in over 50 hour weeks. GA does have a significant benefit package that includes the very rare retirement fund. Thought some facts would help.
