Mike is just collecting a fat paycheck as long as he can. He knows it's only a matter of time until they give him a golden parachute. He and the rest of his cronies are just milking mother mining until they are asked to leave.
This here is the sad truth. Mike doesn't have to worry about the state of the company because he'll get paid either way. He gets paid if he stays and he gets paid if he is asked to leave. He can do whatever he wants with no personal consequences.
When I was payed off, my superior and HR 3rd party rep was blunt with me.
If me and my superiors rolls were reversed, I’d do it to her.
That really hurt and stuck with me a long time, and I finally processed it.
When I did eventually rise to manager, I had 23 reports. I did not bother getting to know them all on a personal basis. I only got to know and develop the 3 reports that were in my succession plan. I no problem cutting the other 20 reports because I knew there was no way they could get back at me. It was on my performance review deliverables, and I got rewarded and advanced up the succession plan, where I was surrounded by like minded elite performers.
It’s an accurate statement I think, it’s only personal if it impacts your inner circles and yourself and then MR and team think they are DemiGods and not going to be held accountable for the mayhem, failed action of the last years. In other organisations they would have been dusted off way back..They are armed with gold parachutes and packages they make can allow them to sunset with no worries.
