Sounds like EXACTLY what just happened at Citrix. Top 1000 Enterprise accounts are the focus. They cut a number of Enterprise SE's and AE's to align with the reduction in accounts. Everything else goes to the channel. Commercial AE's and SE's all gone (or if they were very lucky and had tenure promoted into a position in Enterprise). Demand Gen (BDR/Inside Sales) gone. Marketing shredded to almost nothing. Technologies all separated into individual BU's operating autonomously, and downsized accordingly from a sales perspective. I'm in the channel now and we're being hyped up on the new Partner Connect launch coming in a couple weeks.

E2 core rep here. Apparently I’m losing more than half of my accounts. Same for everyone else on my team. Half the accounts, same number of reps, same number of managers, probably the same quota. Someone is taking the pi-s.

"We could care less. That means we do care, at least a little."

Nope. In English, "could care less" and "couldn't care less" actually mean the same thing.

Next time do your research before being snarky, and you will look less foolish, fool.

This is a now, a well known secret. The top 3000 customers will be the only vmware focus, everyone else is for partners. And sadly, guess what, you don't need 40k employees to milk 3000 customers. This will happen regardless of whether the deal goes through or not.

@gno+1l35Ulyg

Magoo said that before. Said that VMW does it not we just don't say it out loud. Sounds like we are finally saying the quiet part out loud and admitting unless you are a top 1000 customer you aren't getting sh-t and we could care less about your money.

And the partner market will be important to the commercial section...
Citrix did this. Then laid off there commercial SEs and AEs.

Sounds like we are just focusing on our top 500/1000 customers. Strategic / Corporate

Carbon Black is moving back into their own BU and plans to run independently. Everyone called that one.

Yes, but I think it's just 3 segments: Strategic, Corporate, Commercial. Are you hearing/seeing something different?

See below: (VP's and above will get the same but for only one year).
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1124610/000119312521158407/d513266d8k.htm
Look at change in control section.
Keep googling his name on site:sec.gov for more info

  • ++++++--------++++--------

“ Mr. Raghuram and Mr. Dhawan will also participate in VMware’s Change-in-Control Retention Plan, which provides cash severance benefits consisting of two years and one and a half years, respectively, of their annual base salary and target bonus amounts and 150% of the monthly cost of their annual health and dental insurance premiums for two years for Mr. Raghuram and one and a half years for Mr. Dhawan upon an “involuntary termination” following a “change-in-control,” each as defined in the Change-in-Control Retention Plan. Participants in the plan also receive full vesting acceleration in their outstanding RSU and PSU awards, unless otherwise indicated, with PSU awards accelerating at the level of actual performance for completed performance periods and at target for performance periods that are not completed prior to the change-in-control.”
