Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

It couldn't be worse

Aging products .... No innovation for a decade .... Failure of every acquisition ..... Corporate nepotism at every level ...... No accountability .... Terrible reputation with both customers and employees.

NetApp is now Sun Microsystems and headed for the same ending.

Netapp is a breeding ground for cronies and side kicks.
It doesn't matter what you are doing for the product

NetApp doesn't have a great track record on acquisitions. I was involved with the due diligence process for a handful while I was there. All three of them became shelf ware within five years. Money down the tubes.

netapp is not sun. Engineers were respected and had a voice on technology and innovation within the company- voice of the customer. In netapp we are asked not to say anything negative or against leadership or GK. That is the beginning of the end in my opinion. Good luck.

Bitter? Not a chance. Most people who leave NetApp are quite happy that they did and they find their way into companies that have innovative technologies where they are treated with respect. the executives and management that leave have already lined their pockets and don't care. Even Tom Mendoza hated NetApp enough to join VAST.

The sun is setting on NetApp just like it did on SUN ...... FAS = SPARC

NetApp is not sun microsystems .
It is much much worse .
I have worked in Sun and NetApp .
Right now the company has lost its engineering DNA .
It is all about bunch of lame VPs , directors and their side kicks .
Worst company if you are an engineer .

Terrible reputation with customers? What is your sample size? That is such a massive glittering generality that it’s laughable. Are there issues? Yep, most definitely. Can they be corrected? I’m not sure. But a terrible reputation with customers? Sure, you could find some customers that don’t care for us, but I can name 50+ customers that do care for us off the top of my head, so please stop with the glittering generalities.
