Thread regarding 3M layoffs

More corporate layoffs coming

Leadership claimed layoffs would be specific in manufacturing, but corporate jobs continue to be eliminated with rumors of even more coming mid February. Tireman and Roman continue the only thing they know, eliminate people to save their bottom line. No wonder investors are question the leadership of this company.

I hear more layoffs coming to HCBG. People sitting at home doing nothing , collecting a paycheck. And bragging about it. Time to take action.

DEI people won't leave because their jobs are as cushy as they get, and it's extremely competitive to get that type of job anywhere unless you check enough diversity boxes.

The DEI "group" is tiny. Layoffs in that group wouldn't make a dent in savings, especially considering the negative PR. The more likely scenario is attrition within the group, because most teams (including business teams) have been told to pause or downplay initiatives that are focused on long-term thinking/change/growth and do not impact immediate quarter results. People focused on these initiatives will leave because everything they do will be deprioritized and stalled. Just an example of more short-term thinking.

3m, like many companies, has a standing rule that even in the midst of massive layoffs it will not cut anyone or any spending from diversity, inclusion, and equity department. In fact, a few lucky people may be offered transfers into that department if they meet the hiring criteria.

What happened in Memphis was awful. But it's not a corporate problem. It's a Memphis police department problem. Same thing in Minneapolis with Chauvin and his cohorts. If 3M wastes more money on outreach than it already has, more than the German investor will be driving changes at the top.

Will there be any layoffs with DEI group? Haven't heard much from 3M with reference to tragedy in Memphis let alone shutting down operations to reflect on equity.

What corporate functions are you talking? Anyone outside of Enterprise Operations? I interpreted the “2500 in manufacturing” as anyone in tireman’s/Starbucks barista’s/toyman’s (he also worked at Mattel, I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone reference this yet) organization.

I know of an LVS director that was eliminated recently.

I know of an LVS director laid off last week

I know people who retired and then went into consulting. I can tell you that it is standard operating procedure that these people always fly 1st class. The company paying for the consultants reimburses the consulting company in full. Plus they eat meals at nice places to eat, not subway or even tiremans Starbucks.

So 3Ms manufacturing plants had their SAFE budget stripped bare, sales force is grounded while the competitors visit customers, stealing away business. Research has a rigid cap on how much they can spend on supplies. Overtime is mostly banned.

Yet Kearney is living high on the hog along with tireman who is probably delta diamond highest status on miles thanks to hapless 3M employees and shareholders.

No wonder why this place is heading straight to hades.

3M pays Kearny consultants to jet around, but 3M salespeople aren't allowed to travel. This is what the leaders make the big bucks for.

Tireman is becoming legendary in manufacturing. And not a good legend either. Attila the hun style tactics on headcount. All this devastation in 15 months. Kearney people are probably eating and dining rich on 3M dollars this evening.
